Growing Up
25.25.12Ez will be 6 months old this Friday so it’s time to think about weaning again. We tried starting him early a couple of months ago but his ‘happy spit-up’ problem became a thousand times worse so we shelved the idea. If we thought he was keen to try solid food back then he’s positively beside himself now, we can’t eat a thing without being watched by a pair of baleful and longing eyes, it’s a bit disturbing!
We’ve decided to do a mixture of baby led weaning and regular style, I want him to get to grips with solid food quicker than Annie did but my (slightly) OCD nature means that the mess that baby lead weaning alone generates would see me carted off to a soft, padded room somewhere.
Today’s lunch was broccoli, the second image is my favourite, his cheeky little tongue and the slight smile is just perfection.

Broccoli was a bigger hit than chicken, I think he preferred the texture, but it wasn’t long before he ran into trouble…
“No that’s not right, pesky veg”
“Listen up, I’m the boss of you, you go where I tell you, ok?”
“Ooof”
“Ok, you win this round…”
All the time Ez was trying to eat Annie kept chipping in with ‘helpful’ advice, ‘no Ezra, it’s not for eyes it’s for mouths’, ‘no Ezra, it’s not for hair, put it in your mouth’, eventually she gave up on him and concentrated on eating her lunch. When she’d finished she turned to me and said, ‘it’s going to take a long time for Ezra to learn isn’t it Mummy?’, yes kiddo, it is!

I love the way he tried both eyes – just incase the second eye worked! :-)

That’s my boy, trying all the possibilities before giving up on a project!
