Literally a Gift From the Pirates
08.8.13Winning the Nuby blogging competition has meant we get to try out lots of fab Nuby products, I never expected it’d also give us the opportunity to meet some fab new friends too! Yesterday we got to meet the awesome family behind the Gifts From the Pirates blog.
I love their blog, so much laughter, lego and dressing up as super heroes that Annie demands to check their blog when I sit down at the Mac to see what they’ve been up to. I also love the way they document the things they do, our favourite post of theirs, describing a trip to Build-a-Bear, shows you every step of the process and even includes photos of the people that helped them in store (I’d love to have the nerve to ask people to do that!).
We had become friends on Facebook and bonded over a love of geeky things and Wholefoods and decided it was time to meet up. Me being me I spent the week prior to the meet up worrying about it and having the oddest anxiety dreams but I really needn’t have panicked, they were 3 of the loveliest people, so easy to chat to and little Opeie was beyond cute. He obviously missed his big brother and kept telling us that Seth was at school.
Annie really doesn’t seem to suffer with shyness, she introduced herself and kept jumping into the conversation and asking to hug Opeie. I love that she’s so brave and doesn’t seem to suffer from the same problems that I do. I was so proud of how well both kiddos behaved and it was great to see that Pauly and Mrs M shared lots of our parenting views.

Of course our lunch table was strewn with Nuby bits and bobs! Annie and I love eating at Wholefoods, she went with a kids burrito and I opted for the pizza slice, which I forgot to eat until I got home – doh!

Pauly and Mrs M kindly gave the kiddos some awesome Spiderman and Friends action figures and the 3 kids sat there very happy playing while we 3 grown ups chatted over drinks and lunch. Opeie kept making the characters hug and sat so nicely on his parents laps which just highlighted what fidget bums my two are.
After lunch I dashed around the store with Ez Bear and Mrs M while Pauly played in the garden with Opeie and Annie. Opeie had spent ages pointing out the big tractor in the garden while we ate and Annie wanted to get in the sandpit so I knew they’d all be having fun while we shopped.
The time just flew by and before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye. We loved meeting up, we had lots in common and are already planning our next meeting when we can also meet Seth, something Annie is very excited about (I’m not sure Seth knows what is in store for him!). I could kick myself for not taking more photos, especially as Pauly and Mrs M seemed to take loads. Next time, when I’m less hopped up on nerves and anxiety, I plan to capture the whole event.
As soon as we got through our front door the kids demanded I get the action figures out so they could play more, thanks guys we had a great day and my two are over the moon with their prezzie x

I highly suggest you all speed over to Pauly’s blog to meet these lovely people for yourself.
