Yesterday it was a grey, chilly June day so instead of moping and moaning about how terrible the weather was, we decided to spend the day in our PJs having fun inside.
It was great timing because there were lots of new toys to play with from Annie’s birthday.
I had set up a deep sea sensory tub using the blue crepe paper from Annie’s birthday but it got wet and stained everything and everyone blue. After a scrub in the sink the kiddos played in the conservatory while I did some housework and had breakfast.
The kiddos entertained themselves by creating a bed on the lounge floor and ‘sleeping’. Then while Ez napped I sat down and put together the extensive Playmobil kitchen. It’s amazing, the fridge is double skinned and has proper shelves and door storage for the little milk jugs.
Annie spent ages playing with this, it took a dark turn however when the baby did something naughty and the Nanny Playmobil person put her in the oven! She didn’t pick up this parenting technique for me, honest!
After some lunch Ez coloured in a cardboard box while Annie played Playmobil again. I love watching him colour. He’s still got a short attention span but will sit there and colour for much longer than he used to.
Then while I washed up the lunch stuff Annie ‘read’ Ez a book, that was a cute sight to walk in and find. Obviously Annie can’t read all of this yet but she was saying it from memory. My favourite overheard pages were, ‘we all have the right to be treated nicely when someone is being mean to us’ and ‘we all have the right to eat nice food’.
Annie wanted to be wrapped up in her blanket and of course Ez wanted to copy her so we ended up with two ‘kiddie burritos’ on the lounge floor. They lay like that for ages, giggling away at each other, tiny loons.
We had a big balloon fight and while we got our breath back I took some photos of the 3 of us which perfectly capture the day, peace and quiet, funny faces and then movement and noise!
Ez and I continued balloon fighting (I wasn’t going to be beaten by a 1 year old). Annie took herself off to start making her new Lego Jetski, she did a great job and needed far less help than last time she built some Lego.
We had a later film than normal because everyone got carried away with the playing and we forgot the time. Annie chose to watch Wreck-It Ralph and they both sat snuggled up on the couch with me, engrossed.
Pyjama fun day did exactly what it says on the tin, we stayed in our PJs and we had fun. Another item ticked off the summer bucket list successfully.
