Brio Monorail Station Review

27.27.14

For Christmas, Annie’s Great Nan bought her the Brio Monorail station. It has proved to be a fantastic addition to our wooden train set and I just wanted to share our thoughts on it. Please note this isn’t a sponsored review, we just really love this and wanted to write about it.

The station is used to join the Brio Airport Monorail (or indeed any raised track) to a lower rail section. It has a little lift for the passengers to use, storage for their suitcases and a balcony for them to safely watch the trains from.

The lower rail is joined to the station to ensure it doesn’t move during play and derail any trains. Yet again Brio prove that you can use plastic and wood in a product and not have the man-made material looking out of place or cheap.

The winder for raising and lowering the lift is chunky enough that Ez can use it but no so big that it overpowers the station. The set came with a passenger and suitcase which is handy because the Brio figures are gorgeous and having a second suitcase has reduced squabbling amongst the kids.

I love how this joins up to the raised section of track instead of on the floor like our other junctions and crossings, it’s really unusual and I’ve not seen a wooden train component like it before. It separates the two sections of train track so the kiddos can play on one each if they don’t want to share.

It is a gorgeous looking addition and fits in perfectly with our existing train sets, Brio and other brands too. It works incredibly well with the Brio Airport Monorail set because it uses the same colour plastic, so looks like a part of the original set, not a piece added later.

The kids really enjoy storing their luggage, riding up and down in the lift and waiting for a train to stop and collect them. It’s certainly reinvigorated their love of the monorail set and has been used very happily since Christmas.

I don’t know where my Nan bought this from but I do know that it’s now available from The Toadstool and, given how much it’s been played with, at a very competitive price I’d say.

We’re massive Brio fans in our house and this awesome station has fitted in perfectly and added lots of fun to our train games. I think it looks lush and I want to thank My Nan for having such great taste in presents for the kids :)

Oh that looks great! It’s amazing how many extras you can get for train sets now, When Little Man’s slightly bigger we’ll be investing in a set! x
