The lovely Rachael from L-Plate Mummy tagged me in a meme called, ‘The Mummy Tag’ and gave me 20 questions to answer, so here we go…
1. Are you a stay-at-home-mum or a working mum?
I’m a stay at home Mum
2. Would you have it any other way?
I worked in an office until Annie was born and I realised I couldn’t stand spending time away from her so we took the financial hit and I quit. Though being a stay at home Mum is way harder than any of my previous jobs, it’s 100 times more rewarding, though I could do with the option of sick days!
3. Do you co-sleep?
No, I love the idea but neither of the kids would sleep any place other than their cot / bed. Now Annie is older she sometimes sleeps over with me if Jonny is out of town.
4. What is your must-have item for your baby?
Swaddle blankets, as babies they both slept really, really well, I attribute this to swaddling and I think it helped in the transition from moses basket to cot.
5. How many kids do you plan on having?
I would love to have 3 kids but I had really bad SPD with Ezra and ended up on crutches for the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy, also I had pre and post natal depression so don’t think my body or mind could cope with another baby unfortunately. We haven’t ruled out adopting a third kiddo in the future though if we could afford it.
6. Date nights – how many a month?
I think we had 2 last year, my resolution to have more date nights didn’t materialise in 2013, this is the year of nights out (hopefully).
7. Your child’s favourite show?
Ezra loves Yo Gabba Gabba and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Annie is a big Jake and the Neverland Pirates fan and both kiddos really like Charlie and Lola.
8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
A teepee, meant to catch any wee during nappy changes for Ez but they sat in the draw unused until Annie appropriated them as hats for her soft toys!
9. Your child’s favourite food?
Sunday mornings the kiddos and Jon tuck into a breakfast of haggis, bacon and egg with toast. There is never any left, apart from the crumbs on the floor.
10. How many cars does your family have?
1, Jonny cycles to work so the car is free for me to use during the day. We wouldn’t need a second car unless we moved or Jonny got a different job.
11. Weight gain before pregnancy during and after and now?
A lot, a little bit more and still there!!
12. Dream holiday with your kids?
Disneyland, they both love Disney so I’d love to see their faces meeting their heroes. Annie wants to live in the Disney castle so we may have some trouble getting her on the plane back home though.
13. Dream Holiday without your kids?
Japan, but I’d love to take the kiddos there too.
14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
We have far less spare time, I fall asleep much quicker and I finally got my anxiety (mostly) under control.
15. Finish the sentence: ‘It makes my heart melt to see…’
Annie helping Ez by pushing his chair in at the table, passing him things he can’t reach, reading to him or holding his hand.
16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Supermarkets and eBay mostly. I spend out on their shoes, clarks or Converse mainly because I think it’s important to look after their feet. Clothes get grown out of, stained and ripped so quickly with my two monsters that it’s not worth investing too much in the bulk of their wardrobe.
17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?
The last time I wore makeup was my wedding day 11 years ago. I’m not a girly girl and the only makeup I own is a chapstick (does that actually count as makeup?!).
18. Huggies or Pampers?
We are massive fans of Just4Bums but recently we’ve been buying Pampers.
19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yes, ver since I was little. I think part of the trouble I had choosing a career was that all I ever wanted to be was a stay at home Mum. Having kids has helped me realise that when it’s time to get a job, it’ll have to be working with kids.
20. Best part about being a mum?
So many things, the early morning snuggles on the weekend with Annie, playing trains or Cars with Ez, watching them working together, seeing their relationship with their Dad, the stories Annie comes up with, listening to her read, watching them sleep. Basically all of it except the squabbles and arguing!
