The Trouble With Taking Photos of Toddlers (Well My One!)

16.05.13

Taking photos of toddlers can be really tricky so I knew Ezra’s ambivalence towards having his photo taken couldn’t last.

His newest trick is to steal the lens cap from my back pocket and as I’m photographing him try and put the it back on the camera – cheeky sod, good thing he’s cute ;-)

Ez Bear had his hair cut at the weekend and I keep forgetting and feeling totally shocked at how different he looks, that’s normal right?!

On the whole my two put up with having their photos taken admirably. Annie is less of a fan but she does love to show off which helps. When Ez was younger he used to call the camera Mama, still not sure whether that was a good sign or not!

Do your kids like having their photos taken or is it a battle?

Our Home Made Robot

23.04.13

Last week Annie and I decided that we needed to make a home made robot! I’m not sure who came up with the idea but we were both excited by it and began planning straight away.

Annie decided that our robot needed to have lots of buttons on his tummy, an on-off switch on his back and some kisses. Also if he could have glitter glue on his legs then that would be good too!

We decided not to paint him because we’re both rather impatient and didn’t want to wait for him to dry. We used silver duck tape to make a ‘control panel’, Annie demanded he have 4 pipe cleaner arms, ‘just like Dex Jettster from Star Wars” and a fluffy nose. We dug out some googly eyes and found yet another use for our milk bottle top collection.

Once all the glue was dry Annie coloured him in and drew lots of kisses on him, ‘for good luck’. I’m amazed that the robot has lasted as long as he has because Annie does love to hug him. Ez likes him too and has pulled his eyes off twice now, thank goodness for PVA glue!

He may not be the best looking robot ever, his name (& gender) may change on an almost hourly basis and his buttons may keep falling off but he was loads of fun to make and makes me smile every time I walk past him sat on Annie’s chair or perched up by the kettle.

We still haven’t settled on a name for our robot, any suggestions?

Annie’s Amazing Dress Sense

17.04.13

I’ve written before about Annie and her amazing dress sense. Recently she has taken to wearing only summery clothes, shorts, skirts, t-shirts and dresses, I face a daily battle to get her into weather appropriate clothes on colder days.

My Mum came to visit this week and of course bought the kiddos some clothes, Annie picked some dresses that turned out to be shorts on the bottom which were odd, glittery pink Hello Kitty shoes and a hoodie with a sequinned bike on. She was also very happy when she saw that the neon pink Hello Kitty skirt she’d been asking for for weeks was in the sale.

Annie went to nursery yesterday rocking her neon pink Hello Kitty ra-ra skirt, Hello Kitty glittery t-shirt, pink socks and Hello Kitty glittery pink shoes, you have never seen such a girly girl!

We did have a ‘girly clothes’ related incident though, her pink sequinned Disney princess flip flops rubbed her foot so she instantly switched from uber-girly-girl to very sensible Doc McStuffins fan, asked for some cream and a plaster and kept her foot elevated!

I think the fact that the plasters were girly helped somewhat

I love seeing what Annie chooses to wear, I do think I need a t-shirt for me that says, ‘my daughter chooses all her own clothes – honestly’. I bet if I mentioned this to Annie she’d tell me the t-shirt should be pink ;-)

Are your kiddos fashion conscious or could they not care less what they wear?
