Assault Course

February 15th, 2012

Annie is a bit of a daredevil, to be fair she’s an all out loony with no regard for personal safety, but what 2.5 year old isn’t! She can turn any item or place into an arena for adventure and possible bruises or split lips. Her latest favourite game is to lay out a line of nappy bags and walk along them, with different obstacles or ways of traversing them, walking backwards, hopping or jumping…

Of course there were ‘out-takes’, I’m just glad none of them feature blood or ambulance men ;-)

It astounds me that she hasn’t had more serious injuries than a split lip and bumps and bruises because she goes all out in her quest for more daring things to do. She really has no fear and to be honest I encourage her, I’m way too reserved and I want Annie to feel like she can grab life by the horns and to have learnt through experience that even if she falls over she can simply get up and try again. I’m proud of my tiny stunt-kiddo!

Jumperoo Love

February 14th, 2012

Ez is at that awkward age where all he wants to do is stand up, unfortunately he is a bit of a lump and my arms give up way before his desire to be upright does! This is when the jumperoo comes into it’s own…

This is when the jumperoo comes into it’s own. He’s just realised that he can jump up around but he’s still not quite old enough to be grabbing for the toys, you can plonk him down in there and he’ll keep himself occupied for ages, giving my poor arms time to recover.

The bonus of the jumperoo is that it wears him out and the super secret free gift from this? Sleeping babies in a jumperoo are one of the cutest sights ever!!

I decided at the end of last year that I needed to take on a new photography project so I decided to do project 366, where you take photo every day for a year. To make it even more tricky exciting, I decided to do two parallel projects, one with Annie as the subject and one with Ez. I did a similar project for the first 365 days of Annie’s life and felt a bit bad that Ezra wasn’t getting the same treatment, trust me to pick a leap year though!

I am very happy, and slightly surprised, to declare that I made it through the first month successfully with no cheating and only a couple of days where my heart just wasn’t really in it.

I’m looking forward to having a whole year’s worth of photos, it’s fantastic to watch how a kiddo changes and grows over a year. My aim is to use the photos to make a coffee table book for each of them so they can see what they got up to in 2012.

Favourite Toy

February 1st, 2012

Annie loves watching Toy Story and has been asking for a Woody doll on and off for the last 12 months. Her requests increased in frequency because her friend Daniel has one that she steals every time we go round to their house. Jon surprised her last week by buying her one and it hasn’t left her side since…

Her requests increased in frequency because her friend Daniel has one that she steals every time we go round to their house. Jon surprised her last week by buying her one and it hasn’t left her side since, it goes to bed with her, sits on the table while she eats and if she wants to play with a different toy she tucks Woody up, ‘in bed’ on the sofa.

It is a bit spooky though when you think Annie is fast asleep and over the ‘toddler monitor’ you hear Woody talking and laughing to himself – eek!
