We made the decision last week to ditch the highchair and buy him a booster seat, something we didn’t bother with for Annie. With him being sat at the table properly now, we also decided it was time for him to start trying to use cutlery and I never expected something so small to have such a huge impact on me.

All of a sudden we are all sat together facing each other at mealtimes and the little guy is feeding himself quite successfully. I will blame hormones, but I got a bit weepy at dinner times seeing how much older he looked all of a sudden.

The self feeding stage of weaning is the bit of childhood I really struggle with. I really dislike mess, or food on hands and faces and find myself getting overly tense which is no good for the kids, I certainly don’t want to pass my hang ups onto them. Luckily Jon is totally unfazed by all of that and sits next to Ez to help when needed and wipe up the mess.

There really is no way I can call Ez a baby anymore, he is a fully paid up toddler and looking and acting older every day *sob*  ;-)

What ‘milestones’ highlighted how quickly your kids were growing?

It was so simple but super effective, I simply served up lunch in the egg hunt eggs from yesterday. It was a great take on the muffin tin lunch idea and the fact that it contained a wee bit of chocolate made it Annie’s favourite meal of the day.

It wasn’t a very balanced lunch but as it’s bubble and squeak for dinner, which is just veggies, so I’m not too worried.

How did you finish off Easter today?

It takes up the whole Prom, 2 rows of lovely little sheds, covered in fairy lights and tinsel. It sells bratwurst, Peruvian and Nepalese knitted hats that look like animals (I really wanted the giraffe one!), sweets and Russian dolls as well as bizare meat – springbok burger anyone?!

When the market comes to town that’s when I really start feeling festive, it coincides with the switch on of the Christmas lights and begins our countdown to the holidays.

Ez enjoyed himself whatever the following photo may suggest! I think he was just a bit bored of being stuck in the buggy. This was his first trip out since he caught ‘the pox’ and became contagious and I was so glad to be out, breathing fresh air and getting some exercise.

Annie and I spent some time hidden in between the rows of sheds playing tag and blowing raspberries at Daddy. There were so many people that I was glad of some space.

I love how colourful the market is, you can’t help but smile wandering around, even if you have no money to spend ( I can attest to this!).

Jon bought a Bratwurst, every year he says he will, never does and then regrets it afterwards. I’m glad he treated himself, so was Annie, because she ate loads of it – poor Daddy!

We went back into town on Sunday, the weather was much nicer and I realised I’d not taken any photos of the things on sale so we set off to rectify this.

Then we let Annie to try on a variety of different hats, her favourite was the giraffe one too, she has good taste that girl.

After all that excitement there was just time for some refreshments before heading home for a gorgeous roast pork dinner – a perfect weekend in my book.
