Family Sessions

Sessions take place in your home or at a prearranged outdoor location. I'll arrive and we'll have a chat about the session, discuss what ideas you might have in mind (feel free to whip out a list of 'must have' images), we can even talk wardrobe and pick outfits out if you'd like. Then I'll walk around your house to check out the light in different rooms and I may have to move furniture to utilise the best available light. I'll have a chat with the kids as soon as possible, I always leave my camera in the bag so I can get to know your family without any pressure. I want the kids to be familiar with me before we begin so I can capture you all at your most relaxed. I want you to treat me like an old friend so we're all comfy with each other, allowing you to interact and pretend that I'm not even there I want you to be yourselves and enjoy the session so I won't ask you to get into stiff poses or to say, 'cheese'. I may ask you to do daft things, like yell as loud as you can, tickle the oldest/youngest person or do eskimo kisses but please don't feel self conscious, just relax and go with it, I promise you're not the only ones I get to do this stuff! If we're outdoors I might ask you to lie on the grass or get your kids to play in the fallen leaves so you might not want to wear your Sunday best. I take loads and loads of photos so don't worry if you blink or pull a silly face.

Newborn Sessions

Please call to book these sessions while you are still pregnant, this is because 'true' newborn photos only happen in the first two weeks of life, while your little one is still curled up and sleepy. The best time is between 5-7 days, so I'll put your due date in my calendar and squeeze you in once the baby arrives, don't worry if your little one has already arrived and you haven't yet booked, please ring up and I'll see if I can fit you in.

The session is totally relaxed, with as many breaks as needed for feeding or nappy changes etc. Because we work on 'baby time' a session may well run slightly longer than a standard family one, this ensures we get the most shots of your contented little one. As with family sessions I'll need to check out the light in different rooms to find the best spot for the shoot. I may move a piece of furniture to utilise the best available light, but don't worry, I'll put it back afterwards. We can take photos around the house too, in the nursery or on Mum and Dad's bed for example. Also, don't worry about cleaning up, I understand that tidying isn't the first thing on your mind after giving birth and I won't even notice the dirty socks on the floor, for longer than it takes to move them out of shot!
